BIRTH MONTH: AUGUST 8/8

It’s another year and my most favourite month is here. AUGUST.  It’s my 26th birthday today. It has been one hell of a ride since my last birthday and I really can’t complain. Most of what I wished for has happened and I am so thankful to God that I get to live my dreams everyday.

To Kick Start the month, le hubby planned the perfect getaway in Watamu. We flew Kenya Airways to Malindi International Airport.

Day 1:

All of us were nervous for Beck on the flight but he handled it like a rock star. To help him deal with the cabin pressure I had to breastfeed when we took off and landed. By breastfeedding, I helped him with his sucking reflex which helped with unclogging his ears. He slept through the whole 40 minute flight, it was amazing.

The House is colonial style built and is within a minute walk to it’s own private beach. First thing we did was go to PiliPan Restaurant (Beach Road, Watamu, Kenya, Kenya +254 736 724099) for a late lunch. I had the pork chops and the meal was to die for. Before Dinner, I took Beck to the beach for the first time

Day 2:

I was up as early as 7 a.m because Beck is an early riser. It was a lazy day and we only left the house for lunch at Hemingways Resort Watamu and dinner at Medina Palms. Both Places have amazing menus and views and the Medina Palms which is about a year old is so beautiful and modern and their service is impeccable.

Day 3:

We had a late start with lunch and Pilipan again. This time I got a chicken Sharwama. After lunch,we went to the Mangroves for a walk and at the end we each planted a Mangrove tree then we went over to Papa Remo Beach which was crowded by Italians as is most of Watamu and amazing views. We walked across the low waters to the reefs and I got to see a blue sting ray for the first time and these beautiful but weird sea slugs.

Day 4:

I started early with a photo shoot at our beach then later in the day we left Beck with his older brother and went snorkelling and so we got a boat and went over to the marine park. For dinner we went to the best pizzeria in town called Hosteria Romana and enjoyed some wine and Caprinha’s.

Day 5:

Our trip is almost over and we decided to split up for the day. The boys went shopping in Watamu and my sister, myself and Beck went to Malindi for the day. We started off with some ice cream at the best place to go for some in Watamu, Bahati Gelateria Italiana then we went for some serious birthday shopping in Malindi Town. My favourite store was Mohawk then we visited the Vasco Da Gama Pillar as well as the Portuguese Chapel before heading back to Watamu for dinner at home.

Day 6:

This was a lazy day and we split up again. The boys went shopping again and us girls decided that we needed even more down time so the Sakina Spa at Medina Palms was perfect for that. First we passed by Coast and Country which is a store right next to the house for some last minute shopping. They had a beautiful layout and I wanted to buy everything in the store. At Sakina Spa, we were met by Roberto the Spa Manager who was so nice to us and made sure we felt at home. Beck got his first professional massage at 7 weeks old and it was amazing how relaxed he was. We all shared a private room and it was hilarious hearing his grunts as his little limbs were stretched out. Later in the night we went for our last dinner at Papa Remo Beach where I got to sit in the BIRTHDAY SEAT.

Day 7:

I loved taking a walk a walk on the beach with just Jason and Beck. Beck loves nature and he was in heaven staring and marveling at every little thing and sound. Beck made some footprint impressions on the sand and swam in the ocean with his dad. Then we all packed and got ready for the Big Bad City. We arrived to a cold Nairobi in the evening.

Overall the trip was a success. I’m so lucky to have a hubby like Jason. We share so many interests and definitely sync on how we want to lead our lives. I will be forever greatful to him for taking us on this trip. Bonding with my little sister Marie and Xan and Aden was on a serious level this trip and seeing people I love take care of Beck made my heart melt. My sister took Beck every night and Jason and I got some much needed shut eye. I love that I am edging closer and closer to the Claire that used to be but even better because I have a new lease on life.

  1. Lovely post Claire. You guys had yourselves an interesting trip. You are such an adventurous mama, which is a good thing. Its sweet how the big bros bond with their little bro. I love all the photos you took, especially the beach photos. I have been to Malindi once and I still have beautiful memories of the place. Your white gown and fur coat is to die for. Mamma mia, I love those two pieces.

We are preparing for our Summer holiday and I’m kinda worried about the long trip. Hopefully our little munchkin will sleep most of the time.

    Thanks for sharing your trip.

    1. Oh thanks so much for all of that. I appreciate it. I figure as long as he is well slept, fed, changed and relaxed Roby will be great even if you are pulling your hair apart which was what I was doing internally… LOL 😉 can’t wait to see how your holiday pans out 😉
